Hall Achievements

Here are a list of the achievements of the Landsborough School of the Arts Memorial Hall and the members over the past few years. This list was updated in July 2023.

  • Complete external painting of the entire building.
  • Refurbished toilets, all fittings, electrical, flooring, hardware, doors, sinks and toilet bowls.
  • Refurbished foyer entrance with new flooring and painting.
  • Repainted stage area and a committee member voluntarily made the curtains.
  • Painted, lined, updated electrical, added plumbing, installed kitchenette, wall mounted flat screen TV and air-conditioning in what will formally become, when totally finished, the Jean & Slim ‘Morony ‘Meeting Room’, below the hall. (including history picture board and plaque)
  • Renovated a disused dirt storage area into a functional commercial space. (Barbers shop) including concreting, plumbing, electrical, structural, linings and all associated hardware.
  • Installed the stately blue and white LED lights along the gutter-line above the Hall.
  • Worked with council to replace the footbridge to the southern side of the Hall (it was failing) to acceptable standards in hardwood and 2 meters higher, allowing better access.
  • Upgraded the main Hall ‘Power Board’
  • Installed new fans throughout.
  • Purchased 50 new lighter tables, easier to set-up and move around (less floor damage)
  • Installed a digital locking system on the main entry door, with remote pin code access that we monitor and control.
  • Actively sought advocacy through presentations to Council, State and Federal Government members (gave a well received presentation to the ‘full’ Sunshine Coast Council)
  • Increased stakeholder engagement and relationships at all levels of government and with local community groups
  • Participate in the Small Halls Group to ensure knowledge transfer and adoption of proven governance standards and improvements implemented at other local halls.
  • Sponsored a number of organizations to host community minded events and conferences that contribute to the improvement of our local community.
  • Actively involved in the Landsborough ‘Placemaking Project’ throughout.
  • Organized and implemented the 2019 ‘Tidy Towns’ application, and were successful in achieving the coveted ‘Community
  • Spirit Award’ for Landsborough.
  • Implemented improved and more comprehensive systems of Governance, including Code of Conduct and conflict resolution. Ensure we always operate within the Associations model rules and ‘The Act’
  • Implemented electronic bookkeeping standards and electronic payments (removing cash transactions).
  • Developed/produced a Strategic Plan that gave us our concise mission and vision statements.
  • Developed an Infrastructure Concept Plan for the development of the Hall over the next 10 years (working in conjunction with Habitance Energy Positive Architecture)
  • Developed a web-site (including wonderful Hall logo and associated branding) with professional email headers for the executive.
  • Implemented internal cleaning protocols to manage COVID compliance with Hall hirers. Ensuring the Hall maintains a consistent standard each and every week.
  • Administration produced and updated all paperwork for existing and new Hall hirers. Adding OH &S inductions and appropriate safety information and critical contacts list. Conducted extensive clearing and cleaning out of items posing a safety issue.
  • Developed a comprehensive maintenance schedule, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually. (and beyond as we now know when the Hall will require external painting again)
  • Submitted numerous successful funding applications, to pay for all of the above mentioned. Also numerous applications that weren’t successful (still requires a lot of work for no result!)
  • Organized and implemented the 2019 Glasshouse Country Community Carols. Huge undertaking for the local community! (2000 people at the Beerwah sports grounds)
  • Hosted three ‘Landsborough Love Where We Live’ community gatherings at the back of the Hall.
  • Implement and host the ‘Gunfire Breakfast’ on ANZAC day each year, after the local dawn service (300 attendees, not on in 20 and 21 during covid, back this year)
  • Hosted and supported the Sleigh Bell Foundation, providing a Christmas luncheon for those in need.
  • Implemented a Hall Office- Painted walls, installed blinds, installed partition curtains, purchased a computer and printer, purchased a secondhand desk and repainted. Received two (2) donated monitors and office chair
  • Kitchen- Cleaned, sorted and compiled an inventory. Created a crockery and cutlery ‘special events’ inventory now utilised to up sell to hirers.
  • Lawn and Garden- reduced the expense of lawn and garden maintenance. Now the expense is donated by Landsborough Barber.
  • Initiated and Organised internal wall patching, ceiling fan and high window cleans.
  • Initiated and Organised onsite container recycling.
  • Gifted display boards- organized a tidy and painted so they are suitable for internal use.
  • Initiated and organised collaborations at events for the hall to provide refreshments, raising additional revenue.
  • Initiated and organised a successful Twilight High Tea fundraiser. Approached and received overwhelming support and sponsorship from local businesses, organisations and community.
  • Existing and purchased (from Grant) equipment for the High Tea, for example, festoon lights and cake stands, are now utilised to up sell to hirers.
  • Sponsor and support local community groups with events. Eg Landsborough Community Kindy fundraising, From Soil to
  • Wellness free community workshops.
  • Sponsored and supported the concept and project of a community Garden.
  • Completely rebuild the entire front entry stairs and ramps in top quality hardwoods.
  • Installed a new stove for the kitchen.
  • Installed a new hot water system.
  • Added additional power points throughout the main hall area.
  • Planned, applied for funding and progressed with new rear entry hall access. Built with the same materials and style as the recently finished front entry area. Work commences next week.
  • In the process of installing a solar power system for the hall. It will significantly reduce expenses.

The Landsborough Hall has a stage, polished wooden floors, a kitchen area and facilities, fold away tables and seating for up to 250 people. Contact the Booking Officer to enquire about hiring the hall.
